On hats and such

I finally found the right fedora, almost at the end of summer! Even though it's super-popular this season, finding a hat that wouldn't look like it belongs on somebody else's head proved to be quite a challenge. But a couple of days ago, I was passing by Laila Rowe store, walked in and a few minutes later, emerged with my very first fedora. Of course, I had to wear it right away!
The dress (found purely by chance at http://www.smartbargains.com/) represents yet another of my favourite ongoing trends - super-maxi. It is seriously long, and I have to hold it at the side while walking. If I'm not carying anything heavy or bulky, it feels quite romantic:)

Discover your rocker's side

...and your favourite wedges. I mean, my favourite wedges, of course, slightly torn by the coati but still holding up pretty good. For about three years in a row! The only problem with them is that their level of comfortness changes all the time, from your-good-'ol-slippers to gee-I-should've-opted-for-something-comfier. I'm not sure how it happens but it's a mystery allright.

Endless temptations

It's amazing: every time I decide to go frugal (happens about a few times a month) there inevitably going to be yet another sale with some of my favourite designers and I will yield in again - inevitably so. Even if I do my best and avoid walking past Saks, Bergdorf, or down Madison Avenue in general one or two of those places (or more) will inevitably reach me through e-mail (which I cannot not check) still offering coupons, discounts and other stuff a gal just can't resist.
Today, it was theoutnet's turn to try to trick me into swaying away from the path of frugality. And they sell Brian Atwood shoes for whom I have very tender feelings.

I can proudly say that so far, all I have been doing is windowshopping. But the sale is for a whole week...

Funky, freaky, fancy footwear

When it comes to trying out a new trend or a new variation on an existing trend, I'm usually the first one in line. Yes, I do love a classical pump of which I have an extensive collection; a no less timeless high-heel sandal a la Jimmy Choo has also found its well-deserved place in my wardrobe. However, funky shoes are and have always been my weak spot.
But that said, every now and then I still stumble upon a shoe that would make my jaw drop: you gotta be kiddin' me... Can you really wear those? And if so, for how long? Would you need some external help aka somebody's strong shoulder to lean upon while doing so?
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against such an extreme design, and it's just natural curiosity that makes me ask myself (and sometimes sales people if that happens in a store) all  those questions. Besides, if I knew the answers (and liked them, too), who knows, maybe that would be yet another opportunity for me to broaden my shoe horizons.
So, here it goes. Exhibit #1, my favourite Roberto Cavalli. Summer sandals on a wooden platform.

I understand that these are not cross-town shoes but still, I would be very interested to know just how comfortable they are. Like, say, on a scale from 1 to 5?
OK, back to our muttons. I mean, the frea... I mean the funky shoe collection. Exhibit #2, Fendi wooden platform strappy sandals (found at http://www.netaporter.com/). I'd say they look slightly more stable than the Robero Cavallis but it's just my impression. And they certainly have something vaguely Yves Saint-Lauraint-ish about them.

Now these booties make my hight fright go a whole notch up.

Exhibit #3 - Emilio Pucci, mesh peep-toe boots on a 4.5' stiletto heel and a 2' double platform. Despite my starting dizziness, I could see myself wearing them to a summer party, provided, of course, that I would only have to walk to the car and back (found at http://www.theoutnet.com/)
